Where Fashion, Style and Culture Intersect

When fashion, style and culture intersect, you end up with the Urban Couture Fashion Art Expo.  Happening on May 22, 2010 in Oakland, this event includes live music entertainment, instructional fashion design workshops, over 100 fashion and art vendors, musical presentations, a global presentation, an evening fashion show featuring local and national designers and a design discussion panel.  All of this has been strategically planned out to accommodate all these interests within one venue area.  The cost of the event is free for all ages, with only a $10 admission cost to attend the fashion show for ages 21 and up.

Timo Loud, the event director for the Urban Couture Fashion Art Expo said, “People can expect to experience the Bay Area.  For the last twenty years, the Bay Area has experienced a mass influx of people from all over the world.  It has changed us as a culture and this event will represent the new culture as seen through music, art and fashion.  I hope the things like haute couture, fine art and diverse music styles can become staples of our lives, just like how cultural foods have, such as ginger, tamarindo, lemongrass and curry.”

This event was inspired by the two to three day outdoor entertainment festivals that occur regionally throughout foreign countries, such as Germany, Italy, Spain, and Brazil.  Timo Loud, who has a background in architecture, has seen the loss of public space in recent years and the need to bring back important areas of social interaction within the urban environment.  This event will be the perfect opportunity for people to socialize and enjoy art, fashion and culture.
