This is the fifth year The Lab will be hosting their annual Thread | Bare striptease auction and trunk show on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 7:00 PM. If they’re able to host this five years consecutively, you know they’re doing something right. At this event, local fashion designers will have their one-of-a-kind works auctioned right off models as they work the runway, thus the “striptease” of the evening. All proceeds will go towards the nonprofit, The Lab, an interdisciplinary arts organization supporting the development and presentation of new visual, performing, media, sonic and literary art. Founded in 1984, The Lab has earned a reputation as one of the foremost presenters of experimental art in the country, hosting approximately forty live events and ten to fifteen solo and group exhibitions per year. Their work crosses boundaries, encouraging evolving artistic and social dialogue between artists and audiences and developing the culture and community of the San Francisco Bay Area.

The designers participating in the event include Miss Velvet Cream, Turk + Taylor, KITTINHAWK, Mittenmaker, no., Blessings to You!, Stars + Ravens, Alexandria von Bromssen, GINNE, Invisible Hero Clothing, Medium Reality, Rua Minx, Lauren Machen, Elina Tachkova, Ghetto Goldilocks, Schauplatz Clothing, Weststarland, Alkemy and more. A range of sizes will be represented on the runway to ensure plenty of options for everyone to bid on. This year, the role of model is assumed by a bevy of local entertainers and artists, including Jesse Hewit, Fauxnique, Nathaniel Justiniano, Kevin Seaman, Kirk Stoller, Lily Taylor, Anna Constance, Lissalvy Tiegel, Philip Huang, Peter Max Lawrence, Rebecca Parks-Ramage, Macklin Kowal, Kate Dunphy and Ryan Crowder. Each promise to bring their own stylistic striptease to the runway. The models will be styled up for the evening by hairstylists from Glama-Rama! Salon and stylist Cyrus Rhine.
