Sex+Design has come up with another scintillating evening of art, fashion and good-natured debauchery. Sex+Design is debuting the short film Death By Bikini by international photographer Brawlio Elias at Harlot nightclub on Wednesday, July 7th, 2010. Featuring the sexy swimwear of designer Magdalena Trever, Death By Bikini is a modern alternative to the catwalk – an edgy and unbelievably sexy submission in the emerging art/porn genre showcasing the sweet kinkiness of Magdalena Trever’s designs better than a catwalk ever could. Featuring well-known San Francisco artist Merkley??? and set at the Red Devil Lounge, Death By Bikini will have people running for a cold shower before it’s through. In addition to seeing the short film, the crowd will be teased throughout the night with projected photographs from Sex+Design while models wearing Trever’s bikinis mingle with the crowd.
According to Nico Johanna, founder and Creative Director of Sex+Design, “I was trying to come up with a fresh and sexy way to present Magdalena’s bikinis. I have seen so many local fashion shows, and though they can be great, I felt it was Sex+Design’s responsibility to shake it up a little and kick to the catwalk to the curb. I had the privilege to meet Brawlio, a very talented and up and coming photographer/artist at the gallery back in May. He really liked our business concept and was anxious to work on a project with us. I told him my idea of presenting fashion in a video and he was more than enthusiastic. He came up with the story line and the rest is his genius, his skill. To say we are pleased is an understatement. We loved working with him so much we brought him on as our new Art Director!”
Veronica Christina, founder and Editor-In-Chief of Sex+Design added “We picked Brawlio to direct and were drop-you-on-your ass, blown away! He’s an artist to the core and does the dual job of showcasing Magdalena’s bikinis beautifully while keeping you enthralled and seriously titillated the entirety of his 5 minute film. We expect it to be all over the web shortly after the party.”
Photographer and art installation artist Brawlio Elias is known for pushing boundaries in celebration of his eclectic vision. Raised in Tijuana, Mexico, Brawlio has had over 15 art installations displayed around both Californias along with numerous galleries, venues and websites displaying his photography. Brawlio is now utilizing sex in a very unorthodox forum for self-expression, acting as Art Director for Sex+Design. With an eclectic taste for life, Brawlio Elias is committed to sharing his visionary intellect with the world.
Since the launch of Sex+Design on May 19th, 2010, the online magazine has been an internet success. Their pull-no-punches articles explore the balance between sophisticated living and downtown debauchery. Columnists from the New York Times, Vice, and Juxtapoz have been featured along with art and photographer from a number of well-known Bay Area Artists. They’re currently in talks with additional well-known writers and have just welcomed Karley Sciortino from Slutever as a new writer. They’re also in process of joining up with a New York city based start-up to sponsor parties on both coasts.
When asked what people can expect from their Harlot event, Veronica commented “Sex+Design is dedicated to becoming a platform for artists and designers – that’s what Death By Bikini was born from. Brawlio’s video will seriously make people squirm, it’s sooo sexy. We will also have models walking around in Magdalena’s bikinis, which never hurts. We want people to leave having discovered a couple new artists, met creative people, networked and maybe slightly buzzed.”
