Chillin’ Productions is celebrating 12 years of hosting their tri-annual trunk show events to support the independent fashion and art scene within San Francisco. Tonight, they are hosting one of their largest trunk show sales yet at Mezzanine, 444 Jesse Street, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The event is featuring over 80 fashion designers and 180 artists, with special entertainment including video installations and live DJ music by some of SF top DJ’s. All for only a $10 entrance fee.
The founder of Chillin’ Productions, Irene Hernandez-Feiks, started doing trunk shows 12 years ago because she saw that there was no platform for local artists and designers. She wanted to create a place where local designers can sell their stuff and get exposure, while making connections. She started the first SF trunk show 12 years ago and has cultivated an audience that became consistent and grew over time. What has kept her motivated in organizing these events through all the years has been her passion for supporting local Bay Area talent. She has been able to watch designers who are starting off develop and grow a clientele through her Trunk events, which happen three times a year. Furthermore, at her trunk show events, she does not charge designers to vend nor take commission for art sales. Her focus is to promote the talent within the Bay Area and watch people develop and grow their business. This passion can be seen at her events, as all the designers and artists collaborate in working together to put on an enjoyable event with a great social vibe.
Some of the designers who will be featuring and selling their collection include Allison Leigh Jones (apparel), Alissa Anderson (accessories), Alissa Bennet (jewelry), Vivian Sachs (jewelry), Silver Lucy (apparel), Tamo Hulva (apparel), and Rebecca Rose Vandersteen (jewelry). Some of the designers have been making new product up to the day of the event to showcase for the first time. Find out what is in their latest collection and in the collection of the other 70 plus designers who are participating in the event. Everyone is bound to find a new favorite local designer amongst them all. Come look at art, shop, listen to music and enjoy the atmosphere. This event promises to have something for everyone.
