This Week’s Fashion Events: Sample Sales, Fashion Shows and more

There’s no excuse to have a boring week in the Bay Area with all the exciting events happening! Some of the popular events include the North Beach Festival and Juneteenth Street Fair on June 13 and 14, the Red Bull Baylines on June 13, the Doobie Brothers at the Stern Grove Festival on June 14, and the Haight Ashbury Street Fair on June 14. Santana Row’s Annual Summer Fashion Soiree this Saturday

Santana Row, San Jose’s upscale outdoor shopping destination, will be hosting their 7th Annual Summer Fashion Show, featuring a runway show, beauty activities and more. This year’s fashion event will benefit the animal shelter “Pets In Need” and will take place poolside at Misora, Santana Row’s newest resort-style residence. Guests will also have a chance to see what Misora is all about, luxury living at its finest in the 212-unit resort style residence. Completed last year, it offers such amenities as a lounging pool with cabanas and lab pool, concierge services, private cinema, fitness studio, chef’s demonstration facilities, wine lockers and a wine tasting room.

The runway show will feature the season’s best looks for men and women from Santana Row retailers that will be available for purchase right after the event. Some of the retailers showcasing their styles are Scotch & Soda, Letarte Swimwear, Annieglass, Ted Baker, Boutique Harajuku, Bonobos, H&M, Calypso St. Barth and Franco Uomo. After the fashion show, many of the stores will host after-parties offering complimentary champagne, personal stylists and more. The event promises to be an exciting showcase a great range of summer’s hottest fashion that will reinvigorate anyone’s wardrobe.

Local NBC Bay Area news celebrity Kira Klapper has been chosen to emcee the event. Through her work at NBC, Kira has become passionate about helping find homes for the animals at Pets In Need, Northern California’s first no-kill shelter located in Redwood City. In show of support for the non-profit organization, Santana Row will be donating proceeds from 15 percent of ticket sales. Past non-profit benefactors from Santana Row’s Summer Fashion Show includes the Vernon Davis Foundation of the Arts, the Family Violence Protection Fund and the Santa Clara City Library Foundation & Friends.

In discussing this year’s event, Santana Row’s Marketing Director Collette Navarrette said, “When the opportunity arose to contribute to Pets in Need, we were honored to offer our support. It’s rewarding to see a fashionable affair raise funds for a wonderful cause. It’s truly a win win–we can bring the community together and raise communal awareness and funds.”

In addition to enjoying the fashion show, attendees will have access to the event’s Beauty Lounge, where they can sip complimentary champagne as they get pampered from Drybar and Bellarmine Salon and shop the hottest accessories from Santana Row stores Letarte Swimwear, Beau Bijou, Annieglass and others. Complimentary light hors d’oeuvres from Santana Row restaurants will also be served. All guests will also receive a “Passion for Fashion” shopping card that entitles them to discounts around the Row and the opportunity to win prizes at the fashion show.

Based on the success of their previous Summer Fashion Shows, combined with warm weather predicted for Saturday in San Jose, this annual poolside fashion show soiree will be an event not to be missed.

The J-POP SUMMIT, the Japanese pop culture celebration held annually in San Francisco, has announced that tickets to attend the 2015 edition of the festival go on sale on TODAY, Friday, April 10th. General admission as well as V.I.P. passes are now available.

The 2015 J-POP SUMMIT will begin with an Opening Night Premiere Screening event on Friday August 7th at The Castro Theatre, and also take place Saturday and Sunday August 8th and 9th at the historic Fort Mason Center in San Francisco’s Marina district. The 2015 J-POP SUMMIT also announces its first two Guests of Honor – pop singer Eir Aoi and the all-girl rock band Gacharic Spin. Both artists will perform live for fans and attendees on the Fort Mason Center main stage.

All Things KawaiiLand at Ruby Skye for a Day!


KawaiiLand, a fashion runway show, music, and visual art event featuring all things Kawaii (Japanese translation for “cuteness”) is taking place on August 2nd, from 5-9PM in San Francisco at the beautiful and exclusive Ruby Skye.

The ultimate Kawaii experience seeks to promote and share the love for all things Japanese and feature the best of our local Japanese influenced artists, fashion designers, makeup and hairstylists, musicians, photographers and more! The event will feature kawaii workshops and lots of yummy food noms and a super purikura photobooth.

Performing at the event will be Nylon Pink, a pop rock band out of Los Angeles that has inspired a descriptive phrase “Hello Kitty on Acid.”
