Cake Plate is an Elle Magazine favorite for spring

Cake Plate Boutique in Napa was recently featured in the April magazine issue of Elle Magazine as the “Must Do” place to stop at for their shopping soirees, which they frequently host on Thursday evenings.  The spotlight on this Napa boutique is due to the talents of owners Lindsay Kroll and Paige Smith, two of the area’s top fashion gurus who know a thing or two about contemporary style and can outfit anyone for a Napa adventure.

Conveniently located in downtown Napa on 1000 Main Street, they boast to be the place to get spring’s must-have trends from designers like Bailey 44, Milly, Trina Turk, Kate Spade, Orla Kiely and many more.  With new designer shipments coming in every week, Cake Plate Boutique’s spring collection is in full bloom; they have everything from a classic cardigan, to an elegant bold statement dress, and beyond.  Spring is the perfect time for Bay Area locals to venture to Napa to avoid the tourists, traffic and hustle and bustle of fall’s harvesting season.

Lindsay and Paige selected the top 3 items at their boutique which reflect the latest fashion trends for spring.  Since wine tasting looks must be fashionable and functional, they’ve come up with a few fabulous outfits to sip and savor in style!

1) Preppy Pastel Perfection
Soft pastels hit the runway of spring 2012 collections with sorbet shades and hues that give off a classic, feminine vibe.  When wearing the shades, avoid hot colors to prevent tacky ensembles.  Paige chose one of the latest spring 2012 looks from the iconic Trina Turk collection.  “This yellow number is not only on-trend, but is also ideal for a day of wine tasting!  Since pastels are a huge trend for spring, the lovely yellow cardigan and skirt are a fabulous combination.  You can begin the day with just the top and skirt, and then throw on the cardigan over the shoulders when the sun starts to go down in the afternoon.  This look is classic and bright!” says Paige.

2) Comfy in Colorblock
Colorblocking is perhaps one of the biggest trends this spring.  It takes anything from boring and brash to bold an confident.  Style tip is to stick to three colors max to avoid looking like a human rainbow.  Lindsay’s favorite item in store for this trend is a Tracy Reese colorblock dress.  “We love this dress!” says Lindsay.  “It’s an ideal outfit for a day in Wine Country because it’s completely comfortable and functional, but still has a gorgeous pop of coral, one of the springs hottest colors that looks divine on all skin tones,” Lindsay adds.

3) Floral Frenzy
Everywhere one looks, spring floral prints are sure to be seen.  From oversized, graphic petals to sweet charming bulbs, florals are a must this season.  The floral Tracy Reese frock epitomizes this spring trend.  “It’s loose and easy to move around in, but the fitted waist still creates a slim silhouette that everyone is trying to achieve,” says Lindsay.

An ideal time to check out these fashion trends and discover why they made the Elle Magazine “To Do” list will be at Cake Plate Boutique’s Trina Turk Pop-Up Shop Launch Party “Sangria at Sunset” on April 5, 2012.  Cake Plate is eagerly welcoming Trina Turk brand principles and guests from all over the country for the label’s exclusive debut.  In the year since Cake Plate launched their pop-up series, they’ve welcomed the likes of Benefit Cosmetics, Leifsdottir, and Rachel Horn Interiors, giving their customers access to brands in an exciting format.

Dominating the Northern California fashion scene, the Trina Turk Pop-up Shop will serve as Napa’s exclusive source for the 2012 Trina Turk Spring, Summer and Menswear Collections.  Upon attending the cheerfully colorful and perfectly post Palm Springs-themed soiree, party-goers will get the opportunity to meet Trina Turk brand principals and tour the boutique’s specially renovated, 375 square-foot left wing, which Trina Turk will call home for the next ten weeks.  To commemorate the dynamic partnership, Cake Plate Boutique and Trina Turk have collaborated to create a Limited Edition Straw Hat ($75) that will be available exclusively at the Trina Turk Pop-up Shop and online at
